goods stuff thats not huge, I am trying to take some realtive beginners out during spring break, and thought it would be fun to bring a few boats, and play around in some laid back class III or less. anybody know of anything?

westwater
there's always westwater, depending on when spring break is permits shouldn't be too much of a problem. I've never done it, but I've heard there's a nice beginner stretch above Moab big water class II.

"Moab daily" from Fisher Towers down to Moab Take Out Beach and on to the Portal or Potash (then 2 days or more) is fairly easy (class 1 and less) with beautiful scenery. Perfect for open touring canoes.
Get a permit and the gear and run Cataract Canyon
"Westwater" is definitely more challenging (class 3 and 4). Skull and the room of doom;-) Great playing spots, if you get a permit for the whole crowd. Solo paddlers might be able to hook up with another group if they are short some team members. That's what we did.
Ruby and Horsethief Canyon is calm water, head further up towards Colorado (state) and Gore Canyon (class 5 and more), Shoshone (class 3) and Powerhouse (class 3).
Try the Dolores (Gateway Canyon, class 2+ and 4) or up to 84 miles of the Lower San Juan (class 2) or the Green River Canyons.
Buy the bible: "Western whitewater", you could spend a long holiday in Utah with good boating.

Perhaps try a section on the Weber, theres a class 2 section, fun fact, you paddle under a highway for a minute or 2, watch out for rebar and low bridges. Its actually pretty, you dont see much of the Hwy. Get Gar Nichols Guide to Utah, very good.
I am trying to hook up a self support trip on the Jarbidge and Bruneau rivers, 4 day trip, maybe youd wanna bail out? lol
P.S, westwater is not for beginners. Water isnt horrible but on a 17 mile run, swimmers could get cold, and if they are beginners they WILL swim.
