Meltdown - Boat Museum entry

Hi Guys,

came across you site foe the first time in a long time and noticed that your Meltdown Squirt entry in your museum is particularly lacking in info even though you seem to have ample pictures taken from my website http://www.c1squirt.co.uk

to fill in a few blanks...

Manufacture: Originally Valley then Downtime
Designers: Jason Buxton & Steve Block
Year: 1997
Boat length: approx 2.70m
Boat width: its in the garage might go and measure it later
Boat Volume: Custom - Dependant on Cut
Boat Weight: Custom - Dependant on Cut
Cockpit size: C1 Slalom round

Ok now for some facts....

The Meltdown in not based on a fantum (what ever that is) but did infact start life as a Maestro, this was given a 4" central strip insert to add width, then knee tubes where sculped and a new cockpit rim fitted. Toe bumps/leg tubes were reduced.

At a full cut this is a big boat great as a cruiseing destination squirt, but start chopping the end rails and it is possible to get to quite a small craft that will mystery with relative ease (allowing for all the difficulties of mysterying a C boat in any case)

I e-mailed you folks back in the day, and somewhere on file have permission to use the images:) Your site is still linked under 'paddling links', which used to be the home page before the re-design last year.

I'll try and update the info soon...I try to keep everything correct, but a lot of what gets submitted is from other forum posts and may not be as accurate as I'd like. We do try our best though!

I'm glad you found the site, and hope you're still paddling and get give us some Cquirt pointers...it looks like you fellows have had an awefully good time over the last few years:)

I think I remember an earlier evolution of this site, but I definately had not visited for quite some time.
As for still paddling....alas no, unfortunately I have now retired due to problems with my knee, and C1 Squirt was probably the worst for aggravating it due to the very tight bend.

Which does mean I know the location of a Metldown that might be able to be purchased

Does anyone know if there is a Meltdown in the US?

Will happilly part with my beloved Meltdown for the right money, but I suspect getting it to the other side of the pond may be a real pain in both logistics and Costs.

As for finding one over there I recall that MurkyWaters (?) made some enquiries about making them under licence from Jason Buxton (Downtime) some time back but dont know if this ever happened.
