Paddled the grasse this past weekend with a bunch of kayakers. Class 4-5 drops set in a beautiful park in upstate NY. Anyone who has enjoyed the Bottom section of the Moose would like this river. We paddled at an easy level, several holes would punish you at higher levels. I didn`t run two drops, Rainbow falls and Twin Falls, both are serious class five rapids. Photos of the run, and some sick photos of Twin falls runs are at http://www.holeriders.com/grasse/index.htm Twin falls has broken and damaged several creekboats, not to be taken lightly! Other great slides and drops, with some flats and class two rapids in between.
It is times like this that I wish I could sit lower in my boat, scary thoughts of flipping in some of these sets! But a 5.5. inch saddle is about as low as I can go. Soon time to search for a wider C1 creekboat, I want as much primary stability as possible on this stuff! Most rapids are easy to scout from shore. Now if the water would just warm up a little...
