Chest deep twice today!

I've been playing w/ stern squirts in this spot w/ surface boats for a couple of years. Today I was there in the Acrobat. I started off messing w/ cartwheels, but it had too much power for my lack of skill & it just turned into roll practice. Ever go past vertical in a stern squirt, not quite upside-down & have a funky roll? Not sure what happenned, I would have liked to have seen that. Kind of felt like the boat was past vertical & being pushed downstream in that possition

Anyway, I decided to mess w/ the whirlpools. They were biggest about 10' down the eddyline. Couldn't get more than just the boat under there. I moved up closer to the rock @ the top of the eddy than I intended to & started down Go in too fast & it just bow stalls. Don't lean back once the bow starts down, another bow stall. Lean back too much, I mean just a hair too much & get a stern stall. Get everything right (that's a tough thing to do) & the boat goes down straight I got chest deep twice If I could stand less than an 8" pedestal I guess I'd have been deeper

Bad thing is they're raising the flow by 2,200cfs tomorrow Would have been nice to have somebody there who has a clue about this stuff.

To put this in perspective, I was wearing my life jacket & got w/in a couple of inches of being as deep in my Acrobat as I got in LEW's Maven on the Cheat last year This was probably my 2nd best day ever in a squirt boat.

Sweet! I got chest deep once, but that was in a big old open boat in an even bigger hole with not quite enough flotation...

Glad to hear you're progressing. Strange to hear talk of mysteries. A lot of the water around here is still in solid state!

I will be VERY curious (obviously) to compare the Mentor to the Acrobat...in both full and cut-down versions. I'm thinking the full cut Mentor may have a little more volume than your master Acro, but there is A LOT more you can still chop out of it (which is, after all, the point:) ). I'm also VERY curious to see exactly how the concavities feel in both cartwheels and when trying to load them up to mystery or bow or stern squirt. I'm thinking the word "Dynamic" may be used .....

I was wondering how the Mentor's volume would compare to both the Maven & master cut Acro. A hair more volume than a master cut will be a good thing for us larger gentlemen The larger cockpit will be GREAT

Thanks, but I wouldn't say that I'm necesarily 'progressing', I think I just got lucky & found good whirlpools. It was fun though My cartwheels still leave a LOT to be desired I need to work on them in flatwater in this boat.

The water temp dropped a couple of degrees overnight. It's down to 56 now. Sure was nice to not have to wear a helmet liner
