For the record, the last time I ventured into a squirt c1 was around 1993. However, I am willing to try anything. Are you guys going to be at the Cheat next Friday (March 30th)? I can at least bring my racing C1 and pop some enders.

Anyone can certainly join us on our Cquirt tour! Most of us are fairly clueless anyway (ok, so MikeW is getting it pretty dialed in, and Huge has been dialed in to mysteries for YEARS....).

For the curious <cough> MikeW<cough> I spent all day today sanding, and will spend all day tomorrow sanding as well. Not sure if it will be polished all the way up to 2000 tomorrow, but 600 (last of the paper polishing) will likely happen (the buffing up to 2000 goes much quicker...but I still need a refresher to do that right).

I'll get some images if I can find my way out of the dust cloud.
Keep the C!

Count me in as clueless. As much as I want to be, I am NOT dialed in. Tuesday I couldn't even make a simple ferry in class II water to get to the good eddyline  What the heck, if I had it dialed in I wouldn't be as much fun to watch, everybody loves to see a good train wreck

2000!?! Shine on brotha :D I see a nice shiney smooth finish on this baby. While on the subject, the Maven has a very nice shine too. I don't know how many noticed since we (at least I) were so wigged out over the preformance :o You should be very proud.

Shower solution

Post by Mike W. »

Has anyone made a decision on camping? If it's the Savage, I may have a solution for showers. I bought a sun shower w/ the hanging shower stall. I haven't tried it yet. I'm sure it's not the best thing in the world, but I hope it will be better than nothing.

I'll be joining y'all for Friday on the Cheat. bProlly just run the whole Narrows section though. Saturday I'll be on the NBP with the Coastals group, but most likely will split from everyone as usual if the Marshall comes and camp for awhile at Lunchstop to get some playin in.
If anyone else is interested in the full Narrows run let me know so we can coordinate,
Not sure on boats, definately the wheelboy, prolly our raft( lol),
and perhaps my wavesport Z that I am in the process of fully squashing the crap out of.

Anyone interested in sharing a tent site? $25 a night is pretty steep for someone traveling solo...

Camping option

Post by Jim P »

Found the below post on the local Monocacy board. Folks here might want to call as well. If enough people let them know we are coming to paddle and willing to spend money to stay - they might just open. Hot showers for Adam!

"It has been brought to my attention, that the ACE Campground is not scheduled to open until Monday April 30. Since the whitewater release is scheduled for the 28th & 29th, the campground will not be available. The man in charge at the Campground, Jan Gonzalez, is the person who can make the decision to open on the 27th. I suggest that we make a concerted effort to call him and politely ask him to accomodate the paddling community this year and in the future. He can be reached @ 304-355-2346 starting tomorrow at 7am. Thanks "

Camping....

Post by PAC »

I just called them (ACE Campground) and was politely but firmly told by the lady on the phone that they would not be open and that they would not be ready to open by then.

It's a shame that the release schedule was not coordinated with the camp ground. Now folks are scrambling to find camping (with warm showers) and are "put off" at folks (which adds no value to anyone) all by a simple lack of communication. Ah but hopefuly we will all learn from this.

In the mean time some of you have PMed me and stated they are fine going "primative" and staying a the Savage. Thoughts? Personally I'm good either way! Let us know you thoughts! Do we need a poll on this one too!

Ugh! No hot shower! Oh well. Primitive camping at the Savage would do fine and it's a real short drive from Fox's Pizza and the Bloomington section. Maybe the Savage will be running? :D

Ok...

Post by adamin »

I propose we decide on one of the following options:

1) Stay at the Savage already! We used to crash there anyway, even without facilities of any sort!

2) Consider changing the date of this year's armada to Memorial Day weekend. i consider this a secondary option as I know a lot of folks have already gotten time off to attend the armada, but think we may want to consider it.

Thoughts? (I'm staying completely out of this one...regardless of when it is, I want to be there, and can tweak my schedule to make it work).

Looking at the map, I thought PAC's camping suggestion looked good & centralized for all of the activities. I realize that unfortunately, not everyone will do the Yough, PS Composites, Adam Drop, NBP & Adventure Sports Center.

The Armada is all aobut the people & not so much the showers. The Savage is fine. Heck, maybe the Savage River will run & we can do more than drool over it :P I'll stay wherever y'all want. I'm driving up on Thursday so let me know where I should set up my tent.

I tried the sun shower today & am not impressed. It was warmer than the air, but not by much. I'll see if I can secure it under the hood of the truck :-?

I will not be able to make Memorial Day Weekend.
