LEW's post got me thinking about our different experiences with Krylon Fusion plastic paint durability. It could be surface prep, but I'm inclined to discount that in my case as I did follow can instructions and anywhere it was painted and not rescratched is still holding on and it was done in under proper conditions and let cure for more than a week. To be correct I did have more like a dozen or so days of paddling on that paint job.
I'm thinking it comes down to a few other factors i.e., type/class/level of rivers/creeks primarily run, how rocks are used, carries dragged not carried, skills, etc.
To qualify my previous remark I'd say that for class 3-4 low level creeky runs, paint does not last. Boofing or sliding over as opposed to avoiding rocks, paint does not last. Letting it slide down a hill as opposed to carrying it ..., as for skills stepping it up to class 4 creeking means enhanced boat control challenges. So paint does last longer depending on how and what you paddle.
BTW, Jim reports no noticeable changes in boat performance with the ABS paint, which if left alone after application will seek it's own level.
