How about a tandem armada ?
Image 20 tandem canoes on the lower Yough, tearing it up. Image the looks on the faces of yakers in the eddies when three tandem canoes paddling in parallel start heading for the same eddy.
I for one would love to see and attend such an event.
How about a couple of tandems in swimmers at the same time!
Lets hear it out there can we make it happen?

Make it the Ocoee (a lot closer) and give me a couple more years to train up my minions, er, "kids", and I'll be all over it.

Tandem - I'm assuming that includes OC2 and C2 (maybe even a K2 perhaps). I know there are 2 C2s within 30 minutes of the LY - one would need a crew. A OC2 could be most likely be talked into showing up as well. What were you thinking as to detials?
The Down River Nationals take place on the LY early Mid July as well so there will be open boats about!

had not thought about when
Just had the idea and thought I'd float it out there to see if it could happen. OC2, C2 K2 heck even solo boats - but I was thinking of a focus on tandem teams as it is a rare sight to see tandem crews anymore in WW - at least I don't see many.
I know from the DC area we might be able to round up a handfull of OC2's if everyones calendars line up.

My wife and I used to paddle the Lower Yough frequently in C-2 many moons ago. I was indeed fun to watch yakkers scramble out of eddies as we bore down on them with our stiletto-bow slalom boat. I have great memories of doing tandem "donuts" (flat spins) in swimmers.
We've still got two of our old C-2s that I use for paddling with the kids. My wife has retired from decked boating, but maybe I can con one of the kids into running with me.

I have dandemed the lower yough with nnumerous passengers from my son to buddies and girl friends. Have done the gauley too. That was fun. I need to borrow a ww outfitted tandem open boat and then i should be able to scare up a bow paddler. JIM

PS: The falls are nothing... its the first horse U drop by the bridge that can provide a serious beatdown (not looking to do THAT again)!
