I am aware that the ammo and the scud are totally different, but they are both leading the trend in the really short creek boats that are just more volumey with out the long length. Bernie were you able to keep the Ammo going straight? and do you think it would be too small for a 190 lb paddler who can use next to no gear? it sounds fun to have a all-round boat.
thanks for the informational replies in this thrread thus far guys. it's very helpful for a non-plastic-but-soon-to-be-again boater.
thanks

Ammo L

Post by Bernie »

The Large Ammo should be available in two weeks. At 190 I would go large and the directional stability is good.

M Ammo

Post by Bernie »

I have paddled the M Ammo several times on class 3 and 4 rivers and I still like the stability and the way it paddles in rapids. I have backendered in some larger holes but thats ok for me because I will be in my Burn for harder runs.

As far as play is concerned it surfs really well but it does not flat spin like a playboat because the planing surface is narrower than a typical playboat. Jeremy Laucks aka rodeo clown will be the info guru for the play ability of the boat.

The new L Ammo is now available @ 70 gallons and 7'5" it looks pretty good.

In summary it is a fun, short, surface boat that does alot but not everything. Does that sound familiar?
