I have finally finished my Bliss stick "Mystic" and "Super Rad 180" C1 seats and have posted it on blogger. They are very minimalist and comfortable.

New C1 seat set up

thanks for the support.
Frank, it is very easy to get out, as the backrest is flexible and moves with my body as I do my paddle strokes, all I need to do is pop the deck, put my hands on either side of the boat, slightly rise off the seat and slide my legs back and voila, I'm out.
The best part is being able to adjust the straps quickly when on easy water or in an eddy, allowing more comfort.
I have an updated model which is being looked at for production (plastic moulded with quick release connected to the deck) with kneecups attached to the backbone and pelican case holder.
I will keep people updated when I have more info, as plastic mould casts are very expensive.

my only words would be to watch out for those ratchets. i tried a few and found they don't release under pressure. i wouldn't trust them in a creeker for that and the fact that they fail when they wear.
does the rig attach mechanicaly to the hull?.... would it hold up to a piton from say..10 feet? adjustable knee cups? if so.. sign me up!

I've been using a backband in my c-1 for about a year, and haven't had any trouble getting out of the boat. For one thing, the straps running from the backband to the cockpit rim (in my case, they run through my hip pads) are pretty short- 3-4" maybe- so there's really not much to get tangled in. It's also replacing my all foam hip hugger/back block, so now I've got something over my feet that will flex out of the way, rather than something rigid, so in a way, it's easier to get in and out.
I'd say the performance difference is great enough that it's really worth trying out for yourself to see if you like it or not. For me, it made a huge difference with staying put in my outfitting over a foam back block.
I'll second the opinion of backing up the ratchets with a quick release. I've got ratchets on my thigh straps which are my primary mode of adjustment and non-emergency release, but also have a quick release on the straps "in case"

I like the idea of quick release straps as well. On the new plastic moulded seat you will have a quick release strap connected to the deck so as you release the deck a pin is pulled out which holds the leg straps to the backbone and your legs are instantly released and free to bail.
If anybody has any realistic and serious ideas on things that would work on C1 seats, please contact me at : deepsouth13@bigpond.com as I am very close to the first hot plastic seat being moulded and would love to have the C1 community backing this product.
