Maven reviews

Post by Mike W. »

Last week I took the master cut Acrobat & Maven to Week of Rivers. On Thursday night we went to the lake to help folks w/ rolling & let 'em try the boats. The first kid to strap into the Maven said it was "awesome!". He had a big grin on his face & looked at his dad & said "You've gotta try this!" His dad played in it & though he looked like he was having fun, he probably didn't have quite as much fun as his son. I was standing in the water helping a kayaker who had never been in a C-1 when a veteran C/OC paddler strapped into the Maven. I asked him to show us a roll & he window-shaded a few times. I had already warned him that it was the hardest thing I'd ever tried to paddle. Nobody could cartwheel it.

When the kid who was so excited over the Maven got in my Acro, he said that it was a little easier to paddle.

While driving through the campground w/ the Maven, Acrobat, converted Forplay & 2 Siths on the truck, I heard a kid yell "Hey Dad, C-1's!" The Maven drew attention from a bunch of folks.

Big thanks go out to sdbrassfield & jnorto01 for their help. sdbrassfield got the kayaker to roll several times w/o assistance. Before leaving, the kid asked which boat he should get to convert :D

Its a great feeling having new folks interested in C1 and even better taking the time converting them over to C1 from being a "yaker" ....

Mike I feel your broken toe is a small sacrifice to pay get these folks interested .... :o Thanks for all your help at week of rivers as everyone involved really appreciated it ...
