Thanks, Nathan!!
Interesting -- the top C-1 would have finished 4th in men's K-1. That is to say, Benn (C-1) beat Jim Wade (K-1)!!
Amason in second (C-1) beat Butter (K-1)!! (So did Jeff Larimer).
I finished 9th in C-1, but would have been 11th in K-1.
Seemed like a lot of good K1s were missing (Stock, Mann, Poberaj, McCandless, etc).

Hmm Missing boaters
Hmmm - Scott Mann won - he was there.
How does the number of boats (65) compare to that of Tem trials this year or even a typical top end slalom race interms of participation?

boatin
(Aaron Mann was in China)
44 boats at US Team Trials.
I looks like 60 boats by my count raced at Nationals this year (due to people not actually racing who were on the list).
I also see 6 boats at Nationals that were just people "doubling up" classes who were actually at Trials too, but just in one class (with Austin Crane "tripling up!")
So the total difference seems like about 54 to 44. Still, a good turn out. I think a part of it might be that ASCI is less intimidating than Charlotte (for example, I'm not sure those Iranian girls would have raced at Charlotte).
But also there seemed like some good paddlers (Shimrock, Stough[s], Ditty, Calhoun) who aren't usually slalom guys came out -- which you don't often see -- so that's good.
