Rock Dumps are the future

Post by Eli »

I'm still slow, because I am starting to be older and more conservative. I don't run the most aggressive lines, but if more open boaters join me...I will step up my game. Reducing dump time is critical for a fast run. My first dump in this years race was at Go Left and Die. I run Squeeze instead of Go-Left, which allows me to flip my boat on the ledge to dump the water out. Unfortunately this year, while setting my boat back down, I slipped backwards off the ledge, refilled and had to dump again...this second time I had to climb out of the boat. If you run Go Left, you will be faster, but I like to enter Zwicks dry. I am usually full at the bottom of Zwick's, unless there is enough water to go up and over the ledge instead of running the boof...Zach made it, I didn't. I like to dump again below the pencil sharpener, before running the notch at Gorilla. The flying squirrel line on the left sets the best angle to attack the notch. Below Gorilla, you can run the slides full of water, although I like to dump again before entering Rapid Transit. I know we can go faster, let's just be sure we finish!

on the notion of variety. i wonder who has the most variety of paddling forms (C-1, oc1, ect) down the green, especially through the notch?

Words of wisdom.

Thanks for the details, very interesting.

Curious, do you need to boof Gorilla ? It seems like the speed you attain at the top, and the angle of the drop will place your boat in the right angle to land properly. Speed trap must be scary in the race if your stuck there...
Any ways ! Been surfing the net for footage of this great run. Wow what a river, lots of dreaming in perspective, definitely on my todo list, butterflies will be building up till then.

Good stuff !
