Well,
All the interest in new C1 squirt designs can only be a good thing.
I/We are also planning on working on a plug that has been a 'work in progress' for far too long already. I am back in the workshop in April, so maybe a prototype will be ready sometime this summer.
And, even though neither of us is called Jim, you will all have to wait and see what it turns out like!

We were wondering where you were and if you were just lurking….
Oh and don't go teasing us with a new design "in the works' post - we want details, pix and a prototype to check out over the Cquirt / Armada! You are coming this year again.. Correct!
My wife even went out and bought some good teas for the cabin when she found out that you lads had stayed. Something about what I had served being a sin against tea drinkers everywhere. Oh well.
Let us know! Remember .. We want details!

Gwyn, Jim--they all sound alike to me.
Hey, Gwyn. What's the deal coming on this site after a looooonnng absence and tossing in a teaser about a "plug"!? What about the plug? What's it gonna be? What type of cboater is this plug designed for? At least Jim S. came on here and gave us a good idea about what he is doing--why don't you treat us with the same respect? (having a little fun, ya know). Good to hear from you and C U at the next Armada/Cquirt.

Oh well,
since the cat is out of the bag now..
The plug that I have is a C1 squirt boat, 2.6m long at the moment, and 0.66m wide. It is fairly new school, with not much of a cockpit turret, and a spinning disk on the hull (at the moment - all subject to changes!) I won't have time to get anything done before the Armada - I am in NZ until April!

Soft water
Sorry to hear about the water hardening up. What little water we have down south is still "soft", but I think today was the last day of paddling short sleeved. The Mentor looks awesome and I am eagerly awaiting spring to see it in the water.Sir Adam wrote: I just wish the water wasn't so hard around here this time of year.
Jimi,
...some more numbers for you from my Acrobat
knees, center to center - 15" (the cockpit rim interferes with this being any wider)
widest part of boat is - 28" (about even with the back of the cockpit rim)
seat height - 5" (this could be lower if I spent some time outfitting)
If I did this next part right you should see a picture of the measurements for the drydeck that Rasdex made for me about 7 years ago.

For a bungie drydeck it has done a great job of keeping me dry. And for $200-$250 the price is hard to beat.

huge
thanks!
Thanks for all the notes and clues. We'll just have to wait and see now. Mike- the pattern showed up in perfect condition- thanks for the effort. I noticed it's a bit of an oval- does the long axis of the oval run with the long axis of the boat- or across?
I'll do one more talkover on the rigging with Paul C and then dive in!
o boy,
jim
