Why are there so many firemen?! Is the water flammable in germany? (perhaps due to the amount of beer drank by locals?)

in fact it`s not water it`s booze.

Please note the unique paddling technique using a compensating reservoir as a balancing pole!

The facts behind.....

Post by Raff »

Well, I try to explain the background:

The event in Schramberg is called "Bach-na-fahre" which more or less means "river-go down" :lol:

It takes place every year during the carneval. In the black forest the carneval is called "Fasnacht" and its quite wild and rough. Not to compare to cologne or maybe venice and rio.

In 1963 some active Fasnacht-guys met in one of the bars in Schramberg which was located directly on the shore of the river "Schiltach". Ofter some beers they decided to go down the river in a wooden tub the next day. They invited the inhabitants of Schramberg to join and the rest is history ...

Since then the event takes place every year on the Fasnet-monday. With about 10000 people watching and a lot of people swimming.
:lol:

In the states, they call it Armada ... :D

The banners:

batschnass = soaking wet
furztrocken = dry like a fart

Bis am Aschermittwoch morga = until wednesday morning (on wednesday the Fasnet is over"

Further information about the Fasnet you will find here:
