This wasn't at race speed, just a practice run. And you can ignore my two touches...

That is a really neat perspective! Watching it, i wished we could see more - you do miss the onside strokes and you look like the headless paddler - but, I guess it is because the camera is mounted so close to the center of the boat, it doesn't move as much so it *doesn't* have that seasickness inducing feel that some "headcam" footage does have.

Whassa name of that crazy offside stroke that links a forward stroke, a draw and a skullin' kinda thing. Looks like spreadin' peanut butter and just as smooth!

I'm going to try a few different perspectives. I put the camera on the offside to get a better view to the front of the boat. It's almost to the end of a 13ft boat so it's not possible to move it any further back without making an extension platform (which I might try too).

That offside forward/skull/draw is what I described a few months ago to someone who wanted to move the boat to the offside while keeping the boat heading downstream (fast).

It's called a fosdraw. (I just made that up. 8) )

I didn't realize it was all the way back - makes sense, though. If you could get a fish eye lens? A *great* instructional tool!

"Fosdraw" - I like it. Now I know what to call it when someone asks "what the heck are you doing?"...

The race goes right under the covered bridge in West Cornwall.

The Helmet Hero Camera comes with a bunch of attachments, including a flat mounting plate. I simply duck-tape the plate down to the rear deck. It records up to 50 minutes of video on a 2Gb SD card.

There are a couple of variations too. Unfortunately, the main site

GoProCamera seems to be down right now.
