any luck for a ws ace 4.7 conversion?

Post by colleen »

has anyone ever done this before? i have an ace 4.7 that is just too much of a toe squisher for a kayak and i need a c-1. (yes, that's *need*!) i love this boat as a kayak but my feet can't take it anymore. it's surfs and spins and....it's great fun.

it has a large cockpit which should be okay, though the boat may be a bit shallow for being on my knees. it also has pretty continuous rocker, could make it interesting for my lower level of ability in a c-1.

any thoughts? if i do it, i'd go to painboater. he does such nice work.

thanks for any feedback,
colleen

Scott Mcgregor from Rapid Mag use to paddle a ace 4.7 C1 and he ripped it up! He used to paddle it when the boat first came out, i should make a great conversion.

Rapid Magazine also had a review of it, sounded positive, but with a qualification regarding the handling (due to the continuous rocker?). I can't find that article on their website (www.rapidmag.com), though...

I paddle an Ace 5.1 as a C1, and love it! That said , I`ve only had it a short bit, and this is my first C1. As I was a little gun shy at first, coming from a bigger volume OC1 ( Detonator). So needless to say I`ve had a bit of a learning curve. I`ve been jumping into some class III holes, ( taking a spanking the odd time) :o But I would have to say, this boat rocks !!!!
