ABS Pipe availability

Post by Jim P »

In the Washington DC area this stuff is pretty much no longer available as it has been taken off the market. Apparently it develops cracks and well this is not such a desired trait to have in a sewer pipe. :o

Much to my surprise last weekend when in Uniontown PA (just west of OhioPyle), I found the local Lowes and Home Depot fully stocked with the stuff.

So if you need some for a canoe repair and find yourself like the DC area - get it while the gettins good. If you want I will be willing to grab some and hold it for you, as I am working on some renovations up there most weekends these days. Just let me know and we can work out a way to transport via the C network.

You can also get it in sheets from plastics suppliers. I get mine at SABIC Polymer Shapes (formerly GE Polymer Shapes) - dealer list here :

I like sheets because you can use it in patches or dissolve it for paste. You can also get black or white, mix the two for a grey. Haven't tried pigmenting it yet...
