Who can help me....my daughter made the front cover of AWW
I'm not a member of AWW but I'm hearing one of my daugthers made the front cover, so needless to say I'm looking for one if any one is done with their's so we can add it to their scrapbook? I'll pay postage.
Thanks Al Greve

That might be the "Single Stick" issue that they were handing out at the NOC GAF? I've got that in my truck - how about I scan it and e-mail it? That is unless the cover is too worn. It has been in my truck since October (or so).

That would be great, is there an interview with her in it? As she had a phone interview some time back and the article would be great to have if there is one.
I'm pretty pleased with these two as things have not gone to their heads. Just last month they both did a phone interview for Rapid Mag, ( kids an paddling) this will be Aliesha's third time in Rapid..... so needless to say their scrapbook is growing.
my email is canoewater@execulink.com
Thanks Al

I have a copy someplace. PM me your address and I'll try to track it down and mail it out to you! Who can say no to that request!
Keep them grounded and they will do fine!
The only payment is getting the chance to paddle with them some time in the future (oh and they can't make me look too bad)! Paul C.

We'll see where their paddling will take them, excluding an injury in the later part of the season Aliesha was moving along nicly in her C1. I'm really impressed that she has a single hand, back deck roll, its pretty sweet to see. Emily her younger sister has shown great improvement as well in her C1, no injury's with that one yet, thank goodness! They'll both be back in Ottawa this summer working under James Cartwright the National Junior Team coach. Only time will tell?

How can you say that? At best American Kayakers has 6000 people who get it and they are mainly butt boater who will just dismiss or make fun of an open boater on it cover, the bulk of thoses readers attitude is the same as the people who run that group. They just put up with us in hope of them getting some money from us. I think I would rather have my kid on the cover of Rapid or Paddler or Canoe or Kayak you know they reach and are read by more than 6000 people. I ain't a fan of American Kayaker and until they make some fundimental changes in the way they think, act, talk, write, and treat us I am not recomending that any of body I know give them money, I would say paddlw with them but I don't think they paddle that much and they dam sure don't want any Canoes along to spoil there "kayakin" exsperience. If you don't think this is true look at the lastest Tee shirt they put out, it not boatin any longer. They won't publish my letter to them, but, the editor will let the president of that club write about me and what I say about them. Maybe up north that is standard behavor but down here that is something you find the hen house
I think it's great when anyone who is just starting out (particular a young paddler) gets press like that! Hopefully nudges some other parents along to get their kids paddling too!
To Louie's point, there are a number of organizations that have changed significantly during the past two decades I've been paying any attention. I'm hoping some of them come back full circle and refocus on what their mission statement says. BUT, who we choose to donate to / become a member of on a personal level should not diminish the accomplishments of a fellow paddler - particularly a CBoater

That would have been so cool if they published Louie's article (I read it).
I think that was like the "Kids in Whitewater Issue" or something, and Louie was coming out with stuff like:
"It could be the desire to use a longer paddle is just making up for some other shortcoming. Perhaps for children beginning in this sport and older paddlers that have lost their edge, the move to Kayaks is understandable."
That would have been so funny (and frankly a lot more fun than the recent "Great Debate" between Doug Ammons and the "Young Guns").
But I guess it was too controversial for "American Kayaker" . . .
