Coming soon, a short C-1 designed by Larry Norman. Actually it's been around for 5 yrs or so. It's called the "Amoeba". It's 10.5 ft long, 26" wide, designed from an "Estanguay". It has rails and blunt ends. I'm building the first one next week. It will sell for $1100.
Oh yeah, that would be composite.

But didn't Bob Putnam already make an OC-1 on top of an Estanguet(sp?) hull? Seems to me he told me about that, I'm sure I saw pics of that somewheres...

Scott,

Yes, my "Cobra" is based on the Estanguet (once removed). I would not recommend it for a cruising boat. It has the unique combination of being tippy and edgy simultaneously, and it's also pretty wet. It does go like a scalded cat in a straight line as long as the water isn't too squirrelly, though.

It meets OC1 short specs - 13'2" long, 14" deep at the center. It's only 25" wide and doesn't have a lot of rocker compared with a typical slalom boat. Consequently it turns in flat water pretty well, and on the tops of waves - but in other situations, not so well.

So, any feedback on the Amoeba yet? What is the volume like in the stern? I can't really tell from the pictures. Is it something you can stern squirt or pivot easily? What weight range will it handle? Does is meet the new slalom specs?

just foolin'!....Johns the man and if I had the means I would wreck at least one of his boats a year (not because of the boat!, I just enjoy testing way-past the boundries), or learn to patch what I wrecked. They go like a sonn-va-beatch and will make you better boater... and to own one is a right of passage, to paddle them a treat.
