Tell me about the Fink'. I've owned an Outrage and a Zoom (I got addicted to edges) and just converted an old Perception Method Air to a C1. I live in Missoula and paddle the Blackfoot and the Alberton Gorge on the Clark Fork. The Lochsa is fairly comfortable below 7000 cfs.
I'm 5'11", a soaking wet 155 lbs and would like a boat that has some hull speed, edges and that I could use for self-contained 3-4 day trips.

The fink is my first C1, so I don't have much of a background for comparison. That said, I have paddled a Probe 14, have an Outrage and a Spanish Fly. All three of these open boats have more primary stability than the fink. Though I have never been in one, my readings indicate that the Zoom has much less primary than the fink. The boat has good secondary stability and seems to be more stable while moving. Stabillity was an issue for me until I ran the Middlefork of the Salmon last year. Came off that trip feeling much more comfortable in the boat. However, I also came away with too much leg swelling. This is why I bought Oopsiflipped's (Gabe) Spanish Fly last year - I am more comfortable in the fly for longer periods than the fink.
As for speed, the fink is relatively fast for a 9 foot boat. Not as fast as my Outrage, nor Gabe's Cascade - frequently sit in an eddy while watching Gabe do an attainment that I can only dream about.
The edges while present are not carried forward as far as other boats, but this is probably a good thing when it comes to creeking or big water runs - less likely to grab an edge. Though relatively wide, the bottom of the boat is quite narrow. Still, the boat carves turns well. If you do a search on the fink you will find others who have made comments about the boat and its performance.
My weight is running 185 -190, so I'm a bit larger than you. Many of the fink owners who use their boats for multiday trips indicate that the added weight of gear is a bonus. Several fink owners have posted that they have run the boat on multiday trips (Martin and Bearboater as I recall). Also, it seems that I read somewhere in the posts here on CBoats that Thomas Fink is about your weight.
I've never paddled the Lochsa, but plan to resolve that problem this year. If the boat is not sold by the time Gabe heads to ALF next week I'll probably pull it off the market. If so, we can always meet up on the Lochsa this summer and you can give it a spin.

The Fink will make attainments better than the Cascade, and feels a little faster.
I have both.
It carves as well as my Viper 11; maybe better.
I would also say; the primary stability is pretty good and the secondary stability is excellent.
It is the best plastic C1 that I've ever seen.

The Fink is sounding interesting. I'd love to try it out before committing. We (The Trail Head, in Missoula) have a trailer coming to NRS in about 2 weeks. If the Fink hasn't sold and gone to ALF, is it possible to pick up the Fink, bring it up here and try it out. Then, if it doesn't work for me I'll get it back to you. If you feel a need for a reference, ask Tyler at NRS. I do a lot of business with them and he knows how to find me.

My boss is heading NRS next Tuesday and could pick it up then if it's possible for the boat to get to Moscow. If that won't work, then I'll try to connect on the Lochsa or some other way.

hey, Marc, I can also vouch for John Anderson. and John, just get the boat. you will like it. It is great for the gorge, and everything else around. it is the fastest move maneuverable c1 creeker that still has edges. The Burn is good, I assume you have tried Ennis'. But the fink is faster accelerating, and you can pivot it. it surfs well, and it's super easy to paddle, and it's predictable. at your weight, you would have more stability than I did. I am kind of debating trying to get a fink again... But have very low budget as race boats are 2-3 times more than your average plastic...

Finkenmeister No Longer For Sale
Sorry, but I've decided to pull the Finkenmeister from the for sale category. My son is returning from NZ and said he wants to boat this year. So, I need to keep it for now.
John, I have friends in Hamilton and will probably be over your way this summer. I can bring the boat if you would like to try it. Maybe we can run the Blackfoot or Alberton Gorge.
