REMIX 59 or 69?

Post by Kelvin »

Hi folks,
Help needed, I have been paddling a Remix 69 for a year now and love it as a C1. My only concern is it may be a little big for me. I'm 70kg (154lb) and the hull can feel a bit 'floaty' at times, like there is not enough boat gripping the water. I'm towards the bottom of the weight range which is generally ok for C1.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Cheers, Kelvin...

Hi Kelvin,

I`m 138 pounds (64 kg) and have the 59 since a year. I can compare it to the 69 because a friend of mine has a 69 C1.

- volume: Sometimes when I don´t hit a line as I intended to do I wish it would have a a tad more volume.
- with: the 69 has a lot more space in the cockpit to spread the knees apart - its only 2 cm but I found to my surpise that it makes a difference for comfort and stability.
- speed: the 69 is faster

In comparison of the 59 and 69 I would say the 59 is a little bit more fun because it is more lively and a bit better to accelerate. The 69 is the more stable bigger brother that gives more confidence. I suggest to stay with the 69.

I weigh about 150lbs. and paddle the 69. It is a little big in the bow but that can be nice when running bigger whitewater. In a perfect world I would have a 59 as well for day trips and smaller stuff but I currently have a whip-it that fits the bill for that. It really depends on your use and skill level, if you are comfortable in a smaller boat and don't need the volume for big stuff and/or overnights then the 59 would be a great choice,
