My Rig >> Conversion Project (PICS)
My buddy helped with the fabrication to secure the old perception hip grabber, the last photo shows his ABS plastic fab-work up close. Its good to have friends with skills. Other than that, still trying to figure out the best thigh strap setup. Any recomendations would be great. I have a video of me rolling it I will try to post (if i can figure out this internet thing).
Cool!

Outfitting
Looking good so far! Are those thigh hooks in your way when squeezing in the boat?
Maybe do a search for East Coast Canoes outfitting...or maybe he'll post a link. Might give you a good idea for straps and he sells the stuff too
Enjoy

It looks pretty good so far. Those hip huggers are probably the thing helping you get throughthe roll already. You might want to run some type of rail down the centerline for support and an anchor point for your straps - that D-ring at the bottom probably won't stay there under much pressure. You might also want to add some foam along the center rail for knee spreaders as your legs are used more than anything else to control the boat.

If you look under the memberlist at the top of the page for East Coast Canoes you can check his previous postings. I know he's posted pics of his outfitting and strap systems

get something in there to spread your knees and keep them in place when you are getting tossed around. The D ring wont hold you could run some pvc pipe to mount to as a rail. this is for a creeker but the principles are the same http://www.open-canoe.de/open-sucks/index.html

Agreed. The d ring will eventually pull off no matter what you use to adhere it, in my very limited experience. But if you want to use it and reglue often, like I have (pain in the butt when someone calls and says creeks are running and you haven't reglued since last run), then just set up some straps and go, at least you'll have an idea of what kind of works and what doesn't. My philosophy is stop thinking about it too much and try something, anything, if it doesn't work, change it, try again. A
