Where can I buy some neoprene?

Post by HardluckCharlie »

I am an old school paddler... I used to custom build my own spray skirts out of 1/8" neoprene. Does anyone know where I can buy neoprene by the square foot? I have my two kids and a handful of other local kids I am trying to outfit in both C1 and kayaks - without having to sell the farm.
Thanks - Hardluck

www.seattlefabrics.com is a good place to start. I've done business with them and have been satisfied. Really though, just google "neoprene cloth" and you'll have more choices than you'd care to shake a stick at.

sweetcomposites.com (That's Davey and Jennifer Hearn, by the way) also has shock cord, good neoprene glue by the quart and miscellaneous hardware.

Neoprene are often found near the same shepherds who herd the nauga. The nauga hide market fluctuates with taste in furniture, while the neo prene market is related to pole dancing.

Not to be redundant, but I will reiterate what Kaz and Bob P said. Talk to Jennifer at SweetComposites and order everything you need. They are very helpful and have the best prices. Secondly, I used Bob P's instructions to make a skirt for my Finkenmeister. At the time I didn't know who to thank for the instructions - Thanks Bob.

Thank you all for the help! I also saw the how-to instruction page on the Hearns site - which should improve the performance of my old leakers!

The Rain Shed has 3mm Neoprene.

They have been selling fabric and related stuff for the outdoors
for years.

Textile outfitter in Canada is no longer (Sad)
