more with the lap belt thing...

Post by MotorCityOC-1 »

Is anybody using a lap belt in conjuction with the cutting board hip pads? Would that be beyond redundant?

My NorthWater lap belt is on order. Seems like folks are saying that if you thread the buckle properly, it is difficult to get it smokin' tight. That would seem to support hip pads, but what the heck do I know. What I do know is that I want to be LOCKED into the boat.

Sure I'm concerned about being able to get out, but I'm new to decked boating, and it seems like if I have to pull a grap loop before I can start swimmin' I can probably manage to pull a quick relase buckle too.

Anyway, how DO people get their NorthWater lap belts snug, if not by following the diagram posted recently?

lap belt and hip pads

Post by Paddle Power »

I'm using a lap belt in conjuction with the cutting board hip pads in my two C1s. I think they complement each other.

I use a short piece of velco to connect the lap belt release to my skirt pull strap. Usually one pull does it all although once last year I my first pull only released my skirt and I needed to then reach for and pull the lap belt release.

Always practice wet exits. Only two last year did I need to wet exit. You must be in a position to exit if required!
