camping

Post by ohioboater »

Riversport/Paddler's Lane campground now has a very nice bath house with copious hot water. There are a couple of 110 outlets on the porch that work for recharging batteries. No electric out in the field, though. Class 1 playhole and eddy hopping right in camp, but lots of train noise and heavy dew most nights. If I come up, that's where I usually stay. State park is the only other campground I have experience with. It's decent, but I'll put up with the trains for the lower price and ability to enjoy a beer in public, especially now that Bernie/Robin built that new bath house.

New bath house eh! I knew they had made some improvements so I'm assuming here then that a change in status to "nice" is in order now. Having a play hole next the site is a plus not to mention find eats near by!

The trains are not all that bad - I'd just bring ear plugs with me! Besides its a LOT quiter than Gauley Fest site camping!

Shawn hope to see ya then this weekend. Should be moving both the Atoms this Friday. Paul C.

Hey Joe and Tony, I'm in, got the kitchen pass secured and the Paradigm is ready to play.

Just let me know the details, what time and where you guys are camping.

Thanks,

Sunday yes - what about Saturday?

Post by ohioboater »

I just reserved a slot for Sunday 10am as well. 3 launch slots left then - gonna be crowded...

I'll be in a silver Mazda5 with a red Probe up top and probably a Cannondale mountain bike.

Who is paddling Saturday, and what time?

Wish I cld join u guys this weekend.

Another campsite, of a sort, that I've utilized periodically (tho PAC d/n approve) is in front of the O'pyle post Office. It's quiet and no one bothers u. U can use the chnagehouse bathrooms nearby to drain all the bear u've drunk the night before.

How late is late on Sat? I have youth field day on Sat (taking kids out into a big field to have fun with insects, critters, bows, flintlocks, shotguns and the like - sort of a outdoor netindo on steroids 8) ). I might be able to get out after 7ish. I belive you have my cell! 8)

As for the PO - If they hire Barney Fife back you'll be hat'n that!

whole river

Post by ohioboater »

I'd prefer to do the whole river, so by 'late' I was thinking either the 1:00 or 2:00 launch, or just buy a shuttle token and then put on after 3 when they stop requiring permits.

Since permits were running low, I snagged a 1:00 launch time for Saturday. I'm ok with going at a different time if need be. I realize one is never really alone on a summer weekend on the LY, but it'd be nice to have some C-ompany.
