---I finally h
ad my back surgery for severe stenosis at L4-5:L5-s1 --been about a week out. At this point I 'm just trying to increase my walking and stretches.I'm glad it's behind me--I'll recover through the cold months and fantisize about my Dagger Aftershock.I'm building a new, more durable "mini skirt" to cover the bow air bag to divert water.Let me know if anyone else is laid up out there--misery loves company.

Hej Christine,
This spring, I broke my back. L1 compression fracture and a L4-L5 bulging disc were the result of srewing up my line on a drop once.
Took quite a while to be free of pain in the L1 area. The compression fracture is healed but the bulging disc is giving me some trouble. Have to do excercises all the time and go to the gym frequently to build up torso muscles.
Hope you recover soon! See ypu on the river, in an open canoe!

Recovery time
Christine,
I had back surgery many years ago to correct scoliosis during the peak of my best paddling. All I can say is hang in there, good luck and do all the exercises they give you.
It is important to always keep your back, stomach and hip muscles stretched and warm to continue paddling with comfort. When I slack off I definitely pay for it after a day of paddling.
Currently I'm recovering from a shoulder problem and spending my time excising the rest of me and repairing/outfitting a c1 and oc1.
Patience is key and picture yourself surfing a nice wave,
Natalie
