Where to get foam in Canada

Post by allan »

Well, I've finally picked up my first C1 - a Forplay. So now it's time to rip out the kayak stuff, and put in some foam.

I've looked through the forum, and there seem to be some great places online to pickup foam, but as they're all in the states, shipping costs aren't as cheap as they could be...

so to all of you c-boaters in canada, where do you pickup your foam? Is mail-order still the way to go, even with shipping costs, or is there somewhere in southern ontario to get foam?

if anybody's converted a forplay, and has some pics on their computer, or just some ideas or hints, I'd love to hear them. My email is <allan@backpacker.com>

thanks!

MEC, Langford, Trailhead all have foam for sale from time to time. My prefence has always been to stay away from any premade foam seats, have a few beers and start cutting some foam...

Foam

Post by Jan_dettmer »

Hi Allan,

I ordered foam from "All Foam" in Richmond, BC. Shipping was 20 bucks for 32 sqf (8' by 4' by 3''). Price per sqf is 6-7 bucks. That is a lot of foam and fits maybe 6 boats. But at that rate it is very cheap and it is cool to have a big pice, so you can cut whatever size you need and are not restricted to smaller sizes.

There must be similar places in the east.

Sojourn in Barrie has some foam as well.
In case you are interested, Northern Lights in Barrie has (at least they did a month ago when I was there) a few Dagger C1 consoles in their showroom. Dont know how much they are though.
They do also have foam.

He's got a freind who does outfitting work and might sell you some foam. I was going to buy some off him earliear this year, but there was some communication mixups. Anyway, Kalin might be able to help you out. Prices were good too.
