Cartwheels to offside

Post by OC1er »

Can anyone pass any tips on? I need to figure this one out...I can initiate to offside cartwheels off my stern and occasionally get to the bow but by then I'm usually over-vert and I've developed a bad habit of going to a backdeck roll from there that pulls me out of the hole...guess if I could master it on flat water it'd be easier in the hole?

Its not about the approach. Its about control in the hole.

c-1 or oc-1? just curious. Eli is better to offer cartwheel advice than me.

you need to keep your head looking into the hole. I start my off side cartwheels either from my stern of from a cross draw. I would concentrate on starting with good low angle cartwheels and making them more vertical as you get better. I sounds like you need to transition sooner from stern to bow. This can be done easier if you get head and torso turned/twisted around. Here are two good vids with cartwheels. Good luck.

Thanks Dave, missed you at the throwdowns, think you'll make it out to any on the Noli this year? Big Rock was fairly flushy for the comp Saturday, but it was still good fun. Gabe H. came out, so we had 2 cboats...

It definitly feels like my head is not leading, another problem is that it still kind of shocks me when I actually link ends, when I do it right it's like "Wow! I did it! what do I do next!" then I flush or get violently windowshaded...
