I'm coming in to this after the fact, but will remind you of the following:
This is a BOATING forum, meant to discuss boats, technique, rivers, etc.... We try to allow some joking around, as we don't want it all to become to dry either, and want this to remain a place for conversation. BUT, it is meant to be G-rated as much as possible. That is one of the reasons why the folks I have asked to be moderators all have kids... they are sensitive to what is out there.
So, did I find it funny? Yes, I think we all did. Can Louie take a joke? We all know he can;) Is it out "in the public" anyway? Yes, it is. Does it belong here on CBoats? No. The entire post could have been deleted from the beginning, but we're trying to give y'all a bit more lee-way, while keeping it clean. And yes, the Pamela Anderson post is right on the line as well, and will likely have to go now.
If you want to see skin, there are PLENTY of places to go.
If you want to see / read about fiberglass, royalex, resin, boats, rivers, paddles, outfitting, technique, and yes, ADHESIVES, this is the place....
For those of you that also ski, CBoats is the "Teletips" to other sites "TGR". Yes, TGR is far more entertaining, but if you want to easily find helpful info, Teletips (and hopefully CBoats) is the place to go.

I started this thread and I say delete it.The entire post could have been deleted from the beginning,
This is an epic fail of someone casting someone's morals on another.
Weak to say the least.
"This is a place to have a conversation?"
Most conversations I know have ribbing and joking in them.
As Lengthy stated this isn't the 50's and the statement , "kids look at this site".
I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But with the internet, and other media ...today's kids (and I have a pre-teen and a teenager) know a lot more about "that subject" then you would care to even know. Showing someone wearing more clothes then someone in a bikini isn't the end of the world.
I say kill this thing completely and go draconian and remove all of this drama.

Check out Teletips (Telemark Tips)
Check out TGR (Teton Gravity Research).
They are very different boards. One is moderated - one is only very mildly so (if at all most of the time). Each caters to specific types of folks. I post on Teletips, and lurk on TGR (mostly to watch the train wrecks in action). I have noted that even TGR is getting "lawyered" now (a disclaimer to get in to The Padded Room! What is the internet coming too!)
As the "owner" of CBoats, I choose to keep this place G-rated. As both of us stated, there are lots worse out there. As "our" place we can "keep" it how we want it. As the collective "staff" of CBoats, G-rated is what we want, and boats, rivers, techniques, etc... is what we want to talk about.
If you want to talk boats, this is the place to be as many, many folks linking to this site have said. There are a lot of sites out there, but not many with a lot of good info and content (albeit a bit dry at times ). Trying to figure out where to draw the line and moderate, I can see why!
It is NOT a free for all, in part because we are really a global forum with over 2000 registered members and not everything translates well. That is also why the "minor" river notices and trip gatherings get moved to a separate forum - if you are in that area you may care, otherwise, we really don't. Trip reports, of course, we all like:)
If I'm not hosting an "armada", and want to find some folks to boat with I post on my regional forum, the Northeast Paddlers Message Board run by another fellow that actually keeps things a bit tamer than we do over here. There is some regional joking going on, and it fits that forum.
I do not intend to delete this thread, as I really don't have a problem with it, nor do I mind the questions on why we do what we do - those that have been with us for 10 years are used to our rules, and I realize not everyone is. If you truly dislike the way it is run here, there are other places to post. If you can "bare" (couldn't resist the pun) our rules all are very welcome here (this post is not aimed at any one in particular).
