Just got the Necky Blunt yesterday, and before I drove home from the "drop off spot" I ripped out the kayak outfitting in the back of my car and threw it out the window as I sped away.
no, just kidding. but i did rip the stuff out then and there, and today I was able to pop in the conversion stuff and test the boat out in the pool.
the blunt is huge. it is a lot of volume, and the cockpit is deep. wearing a skirt on that is almost like wearing a kayak skirt.
it's very stable, both primary and secondary. you get it up on edge and it's almost like it doesn't want to flip. pretty cool.
it's nice and wide. there is plenty of room to spread your knees apart.
i am coming from a Micro 240. I can't believe how much more stable the Blunt is. it's going to be a fun season. im going to take it over the falls tomorrow and see how it does.
if you want a creek boat, go for the Blunt!

Because you stated that you have paddle many boats including the Micro 240, can you compare the Blunt to a Pyranha H2 245 or offer any other comment about the Pyranha H2 245 as a C1 creekboat.
I'm interested in anything you wish to offer or comment on such as cockpit room, cockpit height, widith for knees, primary, secondary stab., speed, easy of rolling, volume for overnight gear (2-5 nights),...all the usual valuable information for C1ers.

I actually took the Blunt "creeking" (there wasn't much water!) today. It was AWESOME. I'm really excited. Primary stability is very good, the boat has a nice flatish bottom. But the edges are rounded, unlike something like the wavesport Y -- consequently the boat has GREAT secondary stability. It feels like you can't tip it over once you get it on edge. The boat has good speed,
Oh and "rolling a blunt" is pretty darn easy. haha.
I have never actually gone overnight paddling, so I can't comment on that, but I can say that there is a lot of room. It's big -- 76 gallons, after all.
Let' see . . . the width for knees is good. A heck of a lot better than the Micro. It's definitely nice to have a nice flatish bottom, for knee width. (By the way. I'm about 6' tall).
Cockpit room is somewhere you might get in trouble if you are really big. Not the length, but the width. The Blunt cockpit is only 16" wide. I'm a skinny guy (roughly 31/32" waist) and all i need are small 1" hip pads to fit in tight.
The cockpit itself feels really deep though, which is really cool.
I have never paddled the H2 or even sat in one. I was really considering the H3 though. That would make a nice c-1 too, it's even wider than the blunt, but it does not have as much volume. just looking at the stats, the H2 does not have nearly as much volume either, so that's definitely not as good for carrying stuff.
Anyone out there who has paddled the H2?
The Micro was "good" for me as a paddler because it was like a balance beam. It made me learn some serious balance. Now I'm getting to reap those benefits with the Blunt.

I paddle a Blunt as well and can only repeat what Alden said. Alden, how high is your seat? Do you have a photo of your outfitting? (just curious)
I come from OC and do not think the initial stability huge. I do think that the second. stab. is hard to beat. However, my experience is limited and I just start real creeking.
The cockpit-width sucks. I am just over 6' (175lbs) and have pretty skinny legs.
Still it is the limit for me and I am thinking of widening it.
Every other aspect about this boat is just great. I start figuring it out better and better. I like it better every day.

my seat is doing about 5.5" these days. many slalom friends use 4" seats, but I can't stand that. 5.5" feels like a pretty good height.
i experimented with a henry thoreau-inspired "minimalist" outfitting -- just a seat and thigh straps, with no pads anywhere, but that didn't quite work, so I went with the dagger console deal, which is "simple" in its own way.
I am still without any pads for my feet and without any real bulkhead. I really dig the whole minimalist outfitting thing. No extra pads . . . no extra training paddle . . .
