I caught the spike at Weldon this morning ! What a way to start the day. Flow went from 2,300 to 14,000cfs in one hour . As I was straping the boat back on the truck I noticed two cracks in the hull . They start at the seam (under the seam tape) & extend 2.5" on one side & 3" on the other. They are perpendicular to the seam, headed towards the center line of the hull. They are through the gel-coat & the weave is exposed. They are right across from each other 25" from the stern. The deck looks fine.
I don't remember hitting anything. The only thing I can figure is that while back-surfing on top of a foam pile, I slid down into the oncoming water. When the stern hit the green water the boat went vertical real fast .
This is a Viper that was made by Winterport. How do I need to fix it? Any repairs will have to be made from the outside, as the boat is way too thin to get inside & work that far back to the stern.
I cracked my Viper today

The big question is whether you just cracked the gel coat (not a real big deal) or whether the glass is cracked / weekened as well.
You can use a rasp to clean it up (and evaluate the damage), then use WEST systems epoxy and some S-glass to strengthen it a bit.
When in doubt e-mail me, or better yet call John Sweet

thanks
Good news, it seems to be just a stiff at/around the cracks as the rest of the boat. The seam tape has lifted a little though. I'll get a rasp & clean it up for a better evaluation of the damage.
Thanks for the help.
