Bruce's New Fink

Post by rodc »

WOW Bruce. Just picked up your new FINKENMEISTER today! Betcha can't wait to sit in it. Perhaps in front of the TV tonight.
I fired off a couple of e-mails looking for availability, price and shipping (to Connecticut) today. Did you get yours from out west? How long did it take. How much including shipping?
Now there appears to be 4 of you guys out there that have this boat to float about in. Keep the info flowing gents.
Matt is in Oregon.
Peter is in Georgia.
Martin is in Ontario.
Bruce, where are you?

Fink Shipping

Post by Peter »

We used Forward Air www.forwardair.com to ship my boat from Seattle to Atlanta for around $50. However dealing with the forward air folks at the terminal isn't always easy. I've been hearing good reports about www.sportsexpress.com - for around $20-$40 more you can usually get the boat shipped from door to door.

Forward Air also managed to put a depression in the deck of my boat to the front left side of the cockpit. Its not a big deal though, and I think a little time in the sun will get rid of it.

Doesn't look like mine's going to see the water this weekend though, my elbows are still bothering me, so I'm going to take it easy. Next weekend though you will definitely be getting a report on it!

shipping

Post by ROD »

Thanks Peter, I also just found some more info. at BoaterTalk. com. When you get there click on reviews, then Other, then scroll down to "Shipping A Kayak". There are 5 reviews. Interesting another guy had problems with forwardair also.
Sorry about the elbows but the season is just starting to get warmed up. Better to go easy now. Besides, look at the bright side. You will have all that extra time in front of the television this weekend to get the outfitting trimmed to fit you.
Later, Rod

Hello Rod,

The Fink was shipped from Next Adverture in Portland, Oregon (503-233-0706) Speak to Corey Nagel, he's the kayak dept. manager. As soon as the boat arrived at Next Adventure, Corey made arrangements to ship by ForwardAir (www.forwardair.com) and it arrived at the airport here in 24 hours. No complaints. The boat was $949 + $108 for shipping. Once the boat arrived at Next, things happened very fast. It may be awhile though before Next gets additional Finks. I understand a shipment may be arriving in April. Ask Corey.

I hope things work out smoothly for your Fink purchase. :D

Peter,
I've got the same depression forward left of the cockpit rim. Suspect it is due to a molding process problem. Like you said, it's not a big deal, took me awhile to notice it.

Bruce
