Wanted-- Paddle

Post by TNbound »

I'm looking for a paddle so I can stop mooching them off people and borrowing them from my college.

Looking for something of nice quality that is sturdy, 60" long, and reasonably priced. A little beat up is ok. Rocks happen.

Thanks,

Anthony

Anthony - you can get an Aquabound Edge brand new for the price of a good used paddle.

I paddled with an edge all summer through class IV/V Rock infested runs, have dragged it down 15ft drops, riding rock braces on cliffs, and still no breakage.

I'd highly recommend one. The only thing I'd tell you is, they tent to have a flex to them, that you have to get use to. You aren't losing power out of it, even though it can feel that way in heavy current. The other thing I would suggest is going 2inchs smaller than you normally would. I suggest this for two reasons, 1) it teaches you proper technique. You have to LEAN forward to plant the paddle vertical, as opposed to being able to get away with it with a longer paddle, and 2) small you go, the less the carbon will flex.

They are like $90 new, and if you did manage to break one, aquabound is great about replacing them.

Looking like that is what I'll do. It will get me by until I can afford a Clinch River stick.

Gnarlz, do you have the fibreglass or carbon aquabound?

Buy the black one. White one is cheaper in both price and quality.

Aquabound paddles are junk. Use a carlisle raft paddle and save the 90 bucks for a nicer used paddle or to put toward something decent.

The customer service is great, however. So, when unlike everyone else who posted, you break it, you can get a new one or get it fixed quickly and with no hassle.
