I kinda said to Craig I wouldn't be drilling holes...So far I can't get enough water in the L'Edge to warrant holes being drilled, the dam thing just doesn't take on water!
Who knows maybe I will maybe I won't but if I do you will be the the first to hear about it here.
Today we got the first snow outside my house, I am so looking forward to Mexico in 2weeks!

James,

You mentioned moving the saddle forward to balance the boat for you.

Can you elaborate o how you determined this? I have a L'Edge coming shortly and have no experience adjusting bulkhead outfitting.

@Gord, during my first home run, 10km class 2-3, i kinda had the feeling that the front of the canoe was being pushed around a bit too much when punching through wave trains and hydraulics. I deducted this is because the centre of balance was too far back, just like with trimming a canoe for a head wind.
So I shaved out a tiny bit more foam from the bulkheads like this

and glued a nearly 2cm piece of foam onto the back of the seat.
On my second home run I was much happier so I think I was right.
Lots of Esquif canoes are trimmed stern heavy and I change most of them, the SpanshFly is also very stern heavy, I turned the saddle 180degrees and found it much better balanced for me!
@Craig and Flo, yeah yeah I know and maybe in Spring the first Emmental L'Edge will be made!

Here is a foto of the rope handles I retro fitted, it makes the L'Edge much easier to lift about

He mentioned it on his blog, it is a round thing (empty gas canister) with some sandpaper glued to it.

You could also get away with a cardboard roll.. those where they ship posters in.. its longer and thus easier to grip but still sturdy ;D
