I have an older mad river outrage with very nice wood gunnels. The person who had the boat before me kept them in great condtition. Whats the best stuff to treat them with?
And how often? I've heard 3-4 x a year. I have it stored someplace dry and out of the weather but its on water at least once a week or more year round.

I use boiled linseed oil cut with varsol approximately 50/50. I've tried tung oil too but this works best for me. I apply about twice per year two thin coats each time.

If you use boiled linseed oil, be careful - rags with this stuff on it can spontaneously combust.
