Detonator Skid Plates
I've had a Detonator for about 3 yeas now and it was a demo boat before that. My chines are pretty heavily worn and I did add skid plates last year. I had to since I had crakced the outer layer of the royalex in one spot. Unfortunately I used too much resin and my skid plates were brittle so I cracked one at the end of last season....haven't got around to fixing that yet. If putting on skdi plates, be sure to just wet the kevlar felt with the resin....it doesn't need to be completely soaked or it becomes too brittle....that's the advice I have since received.
If your boat is new, then use it for a bit before adding skid plates. You need to rough the hull up anyway before you can adhere anything to it, so you might as well do it by paddling rather than with sandpaper.
