Anyone going to the races next weekend? I'll be working safety both days with my paddling buds.

I'll be at the timing table, and also faking boat inspection. I've been boat inspector for many years, but at a small race like the Southeasterns, there really are hardly any inspection issues.

The Carolina Canoe Club will be camping nearby, holding a Novice/Intermediate Clinic. So there will be a contingent of over 80 paddlers there with our club. I doubt we'll see much of the action, though. We'll be scattered around on local water during the events. I'm sure we'll be up for a frosty adult beverage or three.

We have about a dozen Atlanta Whitewater Club folks working on the safety detail both Saturday and Sunday. After the races on Saturday afternoon I'll be on the water with a kayaker that just bought a Dagger Impulse and will be re-acquainting himself with open boating. I'll be on the lookout for the Carolina Canoe Club clinic both on and off the water. We'll definitely be drinking a few cold, adult beverages after paddling! Hope to see ya!
