Remix... Should I buy this??

Post by jededmon »

I've been looking for a remix to convert. I found one recently that's not to far away and it's pretty cheap. According to the seller it has been paddled very little and only on class 3, but it did come off the top of a vehicle at "a low speed." The link below has some pictures that were sent to me of it... yeah I know not everyone uses Facebook, but I couldn't figure out how to post a pic in my message.

It looks like the marks on it aren't to serious and just superficial.... Is there any reason I shouldn't buy it if it is fairly cheap?

I'd inspect it first, even pull the kayak seat out (not hard). I've dropped one boat off a moving vehicle and a couple of others have fallen a similar distance, not to mention the pitons... Those have all been fine.

The only thing I would say is there are no photos of the hull.
Get some hull photos from the person and ask to get close ups of
any deep gouges.

Yeap by the pics it looks fine; scratches on top are minors, but no bottom pictures.
Oh no wait, it's white! Don't buy it, white boats are ugly.
Watch out; that river has rocks on the bottom. :o

I watched one of my composite slalom boats launch itself off the roof of my Cherokee as I was accelerating down the entrance ramp onto an expressway (speed was well over 40 mph :o ). Just a few surface scratches. The plastic shell on that boat you want should be in good condition, minus the "road rash" scratches.

I'm with Shane... ask him to post up some pictures of the hull from various angles. I'd also watch for any spots that are hevily canned in before the seating area. If you make a fairly rigid spine and saddle you shouldn't have to worry too much about it though.

I like the milk jug color. :D

Ask for photos of the ends too. Even at low speed, a couple of cartwheels on pavement should be checked carefully.
