Hello all,
I plan to purchase a pair of elbow pads for someone going creeking in CO in the next couple of weeks...does anyone have any suggestions as to which brand holds up the best? I have heard stories of some kinds/brands being sucked off in munchie holes...etc.
Thanks!
Nita

There are many things that we can say as paddlers that would be frowned on in "normal" conversation. I've found myself chuckling when I hear someone say things like "Hey, I like your stick" "I think I'll try that sweet little tongue" "I love playing in holes" etc. Nita just sent me giggling with "being sucked off in munchie holes".
I hope I didn't offend anyone. It just struck me as funny.

Elbow pads
I use roller blading elbow pads which are tough and cheap-just make sure to buy them large enough to put over paddling outfit...

hey,
six six one has nice ones which protect the lower arm up to the elbow. I think this is good for creeking since I find myself quite often using my lower arms to push off of rocks on low volume runs. The six six ones are popular around here.
I have Dainese Elbow Guards and I like them. However, they could cover a little more of the lower arm. Watch for the size. Those skinny MTBers just have no arms

If you go just for ellbow pads, make sure that they stay in place.
I bought some cheap rollerblading ellbow pads a while ago and found that the protective ellbow cup is very small and tends to slide out of place , so I stopped using them.
I still haven't decided yet what to get in terms of protective gear, but check out lacrosse and hockey pads, as they have bigger ellbow cups, offer also fore arm and upper arm protection and still offer good mobility.
