Cheap flotation but works Dunnage bags

Post by jroneil »

I do not know if anyone has seen these http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_ ... Categories They look similar to the bags you use when you cover your pool for the winter They come in different size and you can fold then to use as end bags. even if they do not last long 5 bugs a bag is pretty cheap

not lasting long is one thing, but having an evil agenda to unrepairably blow all at once at the first itch instead of developing slow leaks sounds quite inconvenient to me.
Watch out; that river has rocks on the bottom. :o

Cool they look like they have potential. Who is gonna give em a try first? I need some center bags. I would not be surprised if these are stronger than what we use

Here is the datasheet.
http://www.centerload.com/downloads/Vinylbag.pdf

For me living in Norway flotation bags are impossible to get at decent prize but these I should be able to get cheap.

How thick is the vinyl in folotation bags? The bags at e-bay are 0,25mm but I found a Norwegian supplyer having 0,7mm thik ones.

Here is a German version tht seems stronger:
"Poly-woven is a new material in the dunnage bag industry. It is a strong and long-lasting material, that is water resistant and thus ideal for the reusable dunnage bags."
http://www.cairgo.com/dunnagebags.php#polywovenbags
They are rated for 0,7bar/10PSI

been there tried them they suck they are heavy and don't last long at all. Think about it these things are meant to be used once and tossed in the trash. Very few trucking companies use them many time before they are thrown away. remember if it sounds to good to be true it is.

I haven't used them but
The guy using them has had the same set since March and is still using them and he got 10 for 40 bucks. Granted he is only paddling class 2 and some class 3. You may not want them if you do anything harder or if you develop a leak in a good bag they may be a good thing to have around as a spare. I just put it out as an option if some one is low on cash because they are better than nothing. I have also seen people use truck tubes for center bags

Ive seen the dunnage bags used as center floats by people poling Im not sure how long they last I suppose it wouldnt be that big of a deal as a centerfloat...... Better than $60 or whatever the cheapest going rate is I wouldnt want to try and swim a 16 footer with only little end floats in it to shore if your center float fails. I wouldnt trust them in a OC1, going from sidesurf to squirt boating would make for an interesting youtube video though
