Gauley Season

I'm planning on doing:
something Friday
LG Saturday
NRG Sunday and home
Justin, et. al.
I'll be driving from Binghamton, NY down 81 to 70/68 and then down to Summersville, if anyone wants to split a ride out there. I'll have room for two boats, one person comfortably, two more if they want to sit in the back seats of a pick up truck

Chester, why are you not running the upper G. you have the skillz. In my opinion the upper g is the way to go especially on Gauley fest weekend. You get to finish the boating earlier and head back to the fest site while its light out. Those lower gauley runs have to start in the afternoon, they finish late and then you have to drive like an hour it seems to get back to the fest at dusk.

Am I correct that all of the "lower saturday, new sunday" posts are referring to the actual Gauley Fest weekend?
I beleive you are correct. Fest weekend - 9/16-18. Fest Sat 9/17 night.
From past Fest weekends there is usually 2 to 3 groups of canoeists hitting up either / or the upper or the lower. Usually folks just post where to meet, timing and what they plan to run each day over the weekend.
Not sure if any have gone for the daily double (one day all 3 sections - there is a middle section too usually combine with either the upper or lower) but I'm sure someone would be up for that! Just not me!
Upper is a bit stouter of a run and gets you back for fest earlier or on the road earlier on Sun. Lower is more user friendly when it comes to mistakes but is quite playful and has inexpensive food a the end sold by the local church in Swiss.
As Colin noted the New is an option too. As is a number of other runs if there is water or something else you are interested in....(Cranberry, Cherry, Meadow (upper, middle and lower), Valley Falls, etc.). http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... /state/WV/
Hope this helps...

Me and another open boater are looking for any partners to meet up with to run the Lower G this coming Sunday... Partner has run the upper and lower years back, but doesn't know the river too well. I've never run either, but certainly have the skills for it, but we are hoping we can meet up with some more people!

Perhaps there is an Upper Gauley run in my future
Wayne...we'll see how the weekend plays out. I'm game for an Upper Run if the crew is solid and I'm feeling it.

LG/NRG folks on Fest weekend - where?
Those of you who are planning LG on Sat and NRG on Sun of Gauley Fest weekend, where are you camping?
Also, where and what time are you all meeting for the Saturday LG run?
Thanks,
