I want to rent a lightweight aluminum canoe for the weekend of September 11. It will be used on flatwater for the USCA National Stock Aluminum Canoe Marathon Championships. I'd like to find a lightweight Alumacraft or Grumman. We've got a Sears aluminum canoe that we can use, but it weighs about 100lbs . It would be nice to have something much lighter. Any help in locating a boat is appreciated.
I'm in North-Eastern North Carolina.

Hey Marshall, 16' is a little shorter than I was looking for, but what does it weigh (a rough estimate is good, like close to 90 or close to 70)? It's not like we're going to win the race even if we had a fast boat . I looked up MichiCraft & they currently do not list a 16' boat. My uncle said that he weighed his 16' Sears & it's a little over 90lbs. If yours is lighter we'd like to borrow it for the race. A keel is good. Maybe we can make it go straight! I promise that I'll take good care of it.
Thanks,
Thanks,
If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's a good bit under 70 lb. It's being stored out in Hanover and I have to go out there tomorrow so I'll check it out then (give it a good lifting and try to get a better guess on the weight). The boat itself is probably close to 30 years old so I don't know if they still make this model anymore. I'll post back tomorrow evening with all the details.
