Ever build a Frankenboat?+ What do you do w/discarded hulls?

Post by boatbuster »

I am creating a Frankenstein canoe in my laboratory....Bwahahaaaaaaa! I started cleaning out the basement and noted that my 96 MR Outrage, which was hanging from the ceiling with numerous cracks and dry-rotted gunnels, was actually in better shape than the 2005? model POS Outrage that cracked when brand new and which Confluence Kayak Corp refused to do anything about. I took the perfectly good gunnels off the Confluence Outrage and put them on my old MR Outrage, which I plan to resurrect if I can make it watertight again (a very big if) Meanwhile, I re-hung the Confluence Outrage from the basement ceiling as a storage unit. It really is a thin POS, but it is sturdy enough to hold gear.

So have you ever built a Frankanoe out of old boat parts? And what do you do with a beat up Royalex hull? Landfill? Planter?

"what do you do with a beat up Royalex hull"

Allow me to properly dispose of it, of course...

With a little glass, a little epoxy, a little imagination, and of course a Sawzall it can be almost anything you want.

I've got a glass Probe 14 that may be getting the Frankenboat treatment sometime soon.

Donate them to your local Boy Scouts.

If you have a small child who has to wait for the bus, put the Outrage on end as a bus shelter. :o

A friend used his OCA to drag leaves to a dumping point. Unlike a wheelbarrow, you can put the boat on its side and rake leaves into it. Then put upright and drag away. 8)
