Canoe Roll Help Plz!

Post by lightnin »

I have recently purchased a C-1 and have no idea how the roll goes. Anyone got any pictures or diagrams or anything? I'm seriously starting from scratch here. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Help is on the Way!

Or is it "Help is just around the corner"?

I just got a waterproof enclosure for my digital camera and should have some stills and video, above and below water soon. I'll make them available some way. I'm no paragon of rolling, though it is certainly better than nothing!

lightnin,

There is already lot's of info about this on the forum, so a search under roll or rolling.

A good resource for how to roll (and single blading in general) is the book "Thrill of the Paddle" by Paul Mason and Mark Scriver.
It is mainly geared to OC1 paddling, but lotss of the techniques are the same between OC1 and C1.

Where are you from Lightning? May be that there is someone in your area willing to spend an afternoon or two with you to help you out. :D

OC1 not C1 but close...

Post by PAC »

I'm sure once Scott gets his housing we'll get some really good Video with some different prespectives!
Anyway the C1 is darn close to the OC1 - minus some extra bagage IMO. I personally think it is the easiest roll - compared to OC1 and K rolling - but then I get a lot of practice since I flip so much!
So until then try http://members.lycos.co.uk/canadianrivers/id19.htm
The only thing I don't like about this site is that they have video of an OC1 hand roll and well.... I am unworthy!
Good luck and let us know it goes!

Post where you are located too - usually someone is close and can help you out!
