Why is it that open boat slolom is not an Olimpic sport? After all didn't all white water padeling come from the Bill Mason type mold at one time or another. Who among us has not run a rapid in an open boat and realized the skill required to throw the big boat arond. And that big open end will make you pay for hitting the wave wrong and filling up with water. OK, my rant is over.

Because OC slalom is still a sport where the competitors count & we don't need it screwed up, down & sideways by the demands of the Olympic advertising/$ juggernaut.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Race OCs???? Why take the top half off of a perfectly good canoe and then run whitewater with it? There are already enough pseudosports (synchronized anything, rhythmic gymnastics, etc.) that do not make sense, so why create another? Besides, those OCs are just bathtubs that take up eddy space on the river.

It is kind of like that thread last week about women in C-1. What is that all about- they do not belong in C-1s!

Another rant for the day- why does Alden have so many author names on this site. Racer X? Should be "Rated X"! Kids these days...

Gotta admit the truth- the only reason I am griping about women paddling C-1 is that they are all better than me. So if you can't beat them, just don't let them join the game...
