Pyranha Prelude

Post by ncdavid »

I'd like to test paddle one. Does anyone have one in the southeast that I could demo? Thanks.

Demo

Alabama Small Boats has one to demo. They are selling it for $700. If you get it most folks flatten the bottom. I have the original boat, but when Pyranna bought the mold they rounded the bottom lsoing primary stability. Fun boat.

Hey Wendy,

Any suggestions on how to go about flattenning the bottom of a Prelude?

Thanks,

Martyn

Thanks Wendy. Actually, I'd already spoken with a guy at Alabama Small Boats. He offered to meet me at the Ocoee and bring the Prelude. Awfully nice offer. I wasn't familiar with Alabama Small Boats before, but he seemed really enthusiastic and has big plans for the store. Including a play wave and circular river.

Flattening

I may have read about it on Boater Talk. The posts mentioned using a heat gun and 2X4. I would recommend good ventilation also. Just remember as it is the secondary stability is great. If you paddle it on edge it tracks better as a short boat. It is so great to boof and not worry, catch air, do the fun things I miss from the kayak. I am part of Alabama Small Boats unofficial think tank. Good luck.
