The Dagger Caption, like the Dimension, had significant recurved tumblehome below the sheer line amidships. I think you can appreciate that in the photo of the yellow boat on this page: http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/ ... -tandem%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The hull distinctly curves in where the Dagger logo is just below the outwale. Again on this red boat, it is the area reflecting the sun just below the gunwales: http://www.outdoors.woodcycl.com/forsale.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Caper has no such recurve. Granted, photos can sometimes be misleading, but the sides of this boat look perfectly vertical amidships. And I'm pretty sure Dagger never sold the Caption with kneeling thwarts like the Caper-T. They sold it either as a bare hull or with the Team Edge outfitting. I suppose someone could have bought a Caption and installed 3 kneeling thwarts in it, but it seems kind of unlikely.

The Dimension is actually more like the Caper in this department. There's no recurved tumblehome. See http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.p ... er-canoe..

I'm thinking the boat in question that started this thread is probably a Caper based on the seller's comment that it's 12 feet long (the 14 feet of the Caper is closer to this judged 12 than the 16 feet of the Dimension) and because I agree with one poster that the ends don't quite look right for a Dimension.

Yeah, it looks like you are right. Memory fails me once again.

don't know if this will help: this is a 1998 Dimension- please note that the gunwale has a higher sweep-upward flair then newer models

Image

the two Dimeinsions in this picture are newer. the one in the front is a 1991 hull & the flair-up-sweep is gone.
The one behind it is a 1998 hull. The deck plate is about 1/4 the size. Gunwale isn't aluminum reinforced and lay-up much lighter. Hard to tell in the pics, but when all three boats are together very noticeable. Big difference in weight too

We bought the '89 hull used in 2005 and paid @$ 800 don't think it had ever been in the water!
