Seems a bit odd to not be symetrical from paddling outrigger OC-1. Everyone that I've seen paddle 'em does the sit & switch like most flatwater paddlers.
I hope I don't screw up & do cross-strokes this weekend . It's been a while since I paddled sitting up .

symmetrical?
I'm puzzled along with Mike about that comment about "symmetrical muscle development" - I've only paddled outrigger a little while and mine does not sound like the ones his neighbors have (mine is more like 60#) - but they do seem suited to sit and switch. In fact, after a weekend of paddling outrigger, I caught myself switching in the whitewater C-1...

I think his reference about symmetrical muscle development stemmed more from whitwater c-1 than the outrigger c-1 paddling. I'll work on him to keep him straight and true and out of kyacking--to the best of my abilities.
The weight of his outrigger is no joke. It's 20-22 lb. They are from Florida and have been doing outrigger races down there (and I think Hawaii, but I may be making that up ). I just can't wait to try one of them out .
However, the James has crested flood stage and is going to peak this afternoon, so I better get off the computer and finish my chores. Gonna take the Viper out today for a little big water paddling and surfing .
