Thinking about installing a float switch as my index finger gets tired flicking that on/off toggle
Recommendations?
Thanks, Big Al

Pinky finger or left ear.
You keep adding to your wish list for this boat's outfitting Sat AM we're aren't going to get on the water until late and I need to be home early! Just a reminder!

I think the float switch is a terrible idea. You'll always have water in the boat. Id rather be tired of flipping a switch rather being tired of dumping. Just my opinion. Should you choose to go that route, there are a few good pumps out there with integrated float switches. Check out the Atwood lineup. Good luck

Cool on Bambie... bring it on! I think you'll pay more than its worth for the float. I'm assuming you're using an existing system. If not go with iRolled's suggestion. See you in the AM.

Re: Recommended bilge float switch?
Has anyone tried something like this? Looks to be designed for aquariums, mostly.
http://www.amazon.com/Liquid-Water-Hori ... d_sim_hi_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There are a few variations on mounting hardware/setup. any thoughts? It's certainly lighter and takes up less space than the standardish rule switch:
http://www.amazon.com/Shoreline-Marine- ... 29&sr=8-11" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(PS my experience is the float switch is nice because you don't have to think about it and you focus on the river not technology. However, the last drip doesn't get out all the way. I am considering adding a 3 position on-off-auto switch to facilitate surfing and portaging w/out pumping, and getting the last dribble out (maybe))

Re: Recommended bilge float switch?
That seems like a helluva lot of work....... Especially for something that's supposed to save effort. Just go with the normal switch. Also, whenever you Portage you'd have to disconnect the battery. And what happens of you swim and your boat keeps going down stream, pump pumping, until something. Urns out. it jut seems like a very exPensive and generally bad idea to me.
Re: Recommended bilge float switch?
If you install a pre-programmed, robotic paddler in the boat you could just stay home and drink beer.
