Looking for advice on quality, durable flat blade ww paddle
I lost my beloved Perception Horizon Line yesterday on an exploratory run. I like the neutral flat blade for rolling better than the curved blade. Any recommendations?

Mitchell, Jimi Styx, Echo all make great wood blades.
If you want bomber there's always Norse - he now makes some lighter versions too, btw.

Thanks for the offer Bob. I have a couple of those and used one as a spare to paddle out. They are decent paddles.Bob Wiggins wrote:ive got a decent mohawk you could have until you found one- plastic with aluminum shaft, raft style, but it works. pm me if you want to borrow it.

At this point, I doubt you're going to find a high-end flat blade from anyone but Werner (Nahantala) or RiverStyx... On the other hand, there's a reason for that.

because curved blade paddles have a lot more bite and dont really create a noticeable difference in rolling after you paddle with them for a day. they just take getting used to.

A Mitchell Premier (both wood and carbon) can be ordered with a flat blade.

I actually have a Clinch River with a flat blade that I enjoy quite a bit. I like it for everything, and I know there are [at least a few] other boaters out there who feel the same way.boatbuster wrote:Really? What's the reason? Doesn't Galasport make a stick with a flat blade? Looking around on the web I found reference to it but couldn't drag up any photos.
Also, Aquabound makes the "odyssey" which has a flat blade.... Not sure I would classify that as a high-end stick though.

Most custom paddle makers will make your blade how you want - flat, curved, round tip, square tip, etc. See this post about wood paddles for some places you can look for a nice, custom stick.

If you're interested in Galasport, maybe I can find some info. I have a (non-paddler) friend in Sušice and some paddling friends who use mostly Galasport products, the former could ask the folks in Galasport in person and the latter could know something about their regular production.
